Diemme Filtration
Diemme® was born in the early 1970s when the filter press moved beyond its traditional applications in the food industry and established itself as a process technology for solid–liquid separation in other industrial sectors. At that time, the filter press became the machine of choice for treating industrial and municipal sewage sludge, and today it continues to serve in all applications such as mining and chemical industries, power plants, oil and gas. It serves industries where high dewatering performance, low operating costs, and reliability are key factors in technology selection.

Gekko
At Gekko we believe in collaboration. We work “Smarter Together” with our mission to “transform mining and the environment”. As a company we have invested the time of over sixty of our outstanding people to better understand what makes us tick. …what we believe in and what drives us to be world’s best. What we discovered is that our team is passionate about transforming mining and the environment for the better and that working collaboratively is necessary to achieve our goals and those of our partners. This is how our full Gekko Systems corporate manifesto or belief was born

Main Products
• Aachen High Shear Reactors For Increased Gold And Silver Recovery
The Aachen Reactor is a high-efficiency mass transfer device developed from Maelgwyn’s experience in
Imhoflot flotation technology. The unit can be used in any application requiring thorough gas–liquid
mixing but is particularly suitable for gold and silver leach applications where increased dissolved
oxygen levels before or during leaching are needed. Historically, many operations have worked to
increase dissolved oxygen in leach tanks using various methods of air and/or oxygen injection, but large
oxygen bubbles quickly rise and exit the tank, making the process inefficient and oxygen-intensive. The
second drawback of such systems is their failure to address surface passivation caused by oxidized
species that can slow the leaching reaction. In contrast, the Aachen High Shear Reactor can generate
significantly higher dissolved oxygen levels while using high shear forces to scrub mineral surfaces.
The net benefits include:
- Higher gold recovery/lower tail grades
- Accelerated leach
kinetics
- Reduced cyanide consumption
- Improved oxygen utilization
- Increased
throughput without compromising recovery
• Maelgwyn Imhoflot Advanced Reactor Flotation
Imhoflot pneumatic flotation technology has evolved through 25 years of industrial application, leading
to the patented Imhoflot G-Cell. The cell uses centrifugal forces generated as the mineral slurry enters
to rapidly recover minerals and allows for much smaller cell volumes and flotation plant
footprints.
Features of Imhoflot:
- High selectivity in grade-recovery relationship due to very small
bubble sizes and high energy in the reactor
- Effective recovery of fine (<20 µm) and coarse (>350
µm) particles when tank flotation is inefficient
- Small cell volumes and compact flotation plant
footprint
- No moving internal parts
- Lower energy requirements since no rotor/stator is
needed to suspend slurry
Operational Design Features & Benefits:
- The Imhoflot pneumatic flotation process concept
yields higher recoveries with extremely low residence time.
- Imhoflot is characterized by high
unit throughput and tolerance to wide variations in feed rate and grade.
- It can handle widely
fluctuating feed conditions and recover slow-floating minerals, reducing both capital and operating
costs.
- Slurry is aerated via a centrifugal pump that provides energy for thorough air–slurry
mixing, yet specific power consumption is typically less than 60% of conventional rotor-stator
cells.
- Required footprint is much smaller compared to other flotation systems.
- High
selectivity between ore and gangue simplifies process flowsheets.
- Modular process
design.
- Distribution unit, aeration unit, and separation cell design enable easy assembly and
replacement of parts.
• Leachox™ Process For Flotation Concentrates
Aachen Reactors form an integral part of the Leachox process for treating gold-bearing sulfide flotation
concentrates. These concentrates are often refractory to cyanide or have gold locked in pyrite or
arsenopyrite, requiring very high reagent additions for adequate recovery.
The Leachox™ process
comprises several interlinked Maelgwyn proprietary processes, including:
- Imhoflot G-Cell
flotation
- Ultra-fine grinding using the Ro-Star mill
- Aachen Reactors
-
Reactor-assisted cyanide destruction
- Ultra-fine grinding to liberate sulfide minerals as a unit
operation in the Leachox process

Diemme Filtration

At that time, the filter press became the machine of choice for treating industrial and municipal sewage sludge, and today it continues to serve in all applications such as mining and chemical industries, power plants, oil and gas. It serves industries where high dewatering performance, low operating costs, and reliability are key factors in technology selection. Diemme® Filtration has the widest range of filters available globally in terms of size, design, and technical features. Equipment is custom designed and manufactured to suit application needs. Diemme® Filtration has also begun designing and supplying its own range of high-rate thickeners, expanding its supply scope and offering greater support to customers.
Products:
• Filter Presses
Diemme Filtration has captured a large market share in the solid–liquid filtration segment due to its
ability to customize systems entirely to customer requirements. Diemme® Filtration filter presses vary
in plate transport design (top or side transport), plate size, and automation level. Plate size depends
on the dimensions and number of plates fitted. Diemme® Filtration plates are available in different
nominal sizes (from 500 × 500 mm to 5 000 × 5 000 mm), various materials (polypropylene, carbon, PVDF,
etc.), and process configurations (membrane and recessed plates).
Automation levels:
-
Semi-automatic, where the operator intervenes in various stages of the filtration cycle,
-
Automatic, operating with the operator in a supervisory role,
- Fully automatic, running continuous
filtration cycles without any personnel intervention.
Models:
- GHT-F
- GHT5000F DOMINO
- GHT-P
- GHS
- ME
-
AUTOMAT
- KE
• Thickeners / Clarifiers
Slurry Thickeners: Diemme® Filtration high-rate thickeners are the result of decades of
experience in solid–liquid separation across mining, chemical, metallurgy, water treatment, and many
other industries. Our commitment to R&D enables us to propose innovative solutions to optimize
performance and reduce plant costs.
Strengths of Diemme® Filtration:
- Comprehensive laboratory testing on customer samples
(selection and dosing of flocculants and coagulants, static and dynamic tests, rheology, mineralogy,
etc.);
- Mechanical parts designed for the most demanding conditions to ensure long-term
performance and reliability;
- Optimization of tank structural design (static and dynamic analysis,
seismic, FEM modeling, weight optimization, etc.);
- Integration of instrumentation and control
tools to optimize processes and reduce operating costs;
- IIoT connectivity;
- Comprehensive
and customizable premium components;
- Global service support.
Diemme® Filtration high-rate
thickeners deliver very high efficiency and are designed to complement Diemme® Filtration filter
presses. Thickeners can be manufactured in diameters of 40 m and above, available in “Bridge” or
“Column” versions. Depending on project specifications, they can be built entirely from carbon steel,
stainless steel (with or without rubber lining), or as concrete tanks. From a process perspective,
clarifier performance depends on the system’s ability to bind solids to flocculant. This occurs in the
feed well at the heart of the clarifier. The incoming stream in the feed well provides mixing energy for
floc formation and subsequent settling to the tank bottom. The complex design, requiring CFD modeling by
Diemme® Filtration’s technical staff, results in optimized flocculant consumption, high supernatant
clarity, and consistent thickened slurry density.
